This is a set of five small plates depicting the moon in jet black using the maki-nuri technique.
蒔塗とは
漆器の絵付け技法で蒔絵というものがあります。
蒔絵は、漆を塗って乾かぬ間に金粉銀粉を蒔き分けることにより
美しい絵柄が出来ます。
その技法を使って、塗り工房ふじいでは、漆を塗り金粉銀粉を蒔くことにより
塗りでは表現できない蒔絵のような独特の輝きを表現しています。
What is maki-nuri?
There is a lacquerware painting technique called maki-e.
Maki-e is a technique in which gold and silver powder is sprinkled onto lacquer before it dries,
creating beautiful patterns.
Using this technique, Fujii Lacquerware Workshop applies lacquer and sprinkles gold and silver powder to
create a unique shine similar to maki-e that cannot be expressed with lacquer alone.
