縦横無尽に伸びる茎やツタが生命力の強さを連想させるので「長寿」「繁栄」を表します。
泥棒の背負う風呂敷の柄というイメージが強いですが、明治時代では唐草模様の風呂敷はどこの家庭にもあるほど大人気商品だったそうです。
The stems and vines that grow freely in all directions evoke the image of strong vitality, representing ‘longevity’ and ‘prosperity.’
Although it is strongly associated with the image of a thief's furoshiki, during the Meiji era, furoshiki with arabesque patterns were so popular that they could be found in every household.
